The Capital District of the Rio Texas Conference is comprised of churches in the greater Austin area, with a few more in outlying areas. We are one of seven districts in the conference that spans nearly all of central and south Texas. When disaster strikes, each church is connected to each other through a system that allows us to be much stronger than any single church could be. We are connected not only within the conference, but to every other United Methodist Church world-wide. This allows us to respond in a much greater way than if we were alone. We are also connected to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which is the humanitarian relief arm of the church, and to other relief organizations through our membership in the Central Texas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
